 Flimsy compass Aug 10, 2007
I received this item (Brunton 8010G, Classic) in two pieces inside
its plastic packaging, which was undamaged. The baseplate and the
compass housing (the middle part) were separated. I opened the package
and reinserted the compass housing into the baseplate. At the slightest
tap of the fleshy part of my finger tip, the compass housing fell out.
I'm pretty sure this shouldn't happen...
I called Amazon and was helped by a courteous support person.
They'll take this thing back and will cover the return shipping.
I've already ordered a new compass from Silva.

This compass does a fine job of indicating North, South, East and West.
