Awesome bag! May 04, 2008 Like the previous reviewer, I bought this bag for a trip to Peru. I wanted something that would carry a DSLR camera, 2 extra lenses, and a small rain jacket. This bag held all of that with room to spare.
I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone, especially photographers who want easy access to their gear without carrying the more "obvious" photo bags.

The best daypack on the market! Oct 11, 2007 I bought a mountainsmith bag at the suggestion of a friend who used it everday for 2 years and said it was the best daypack around. I took it on a trip to Peru where I was going to do substaintial hiking and carrying a lot on me each day (jacket, two water bottles, camera, etc). Because this bag has a hip strap and a shoulder strap, I never once got sore shoulders from carrying 10-15 pounds each day.
In fact, the entire group I traveled with had this bag and absolutely LOVED it. The pockets are great for storing stuff, it can syntch into a smaller bag when it is empty, and the water bottle holders on each side are great for also holding cameras, gloves, etc. I loved how padded the straps are, which meant I never felt a heavy strap on my shoulder.
I would recommend this bag to anyone who commutes, goes hiking alot, or just wants a bag to carry gear around. I still use this bag commuting to work to carry my lunch, extra shoes for work, and the occasional jacket/sweater.
